Main Menu

New Capture

Description
Create a new Envision screen capture project.
Usage
Press the New Capture icon(located top Left).

Access online Help

Description
Access to online user area where you can get your questions on Envision answered.
Usage
Press the Online Help icon(located top center).
Note
Requires internet access.

Download

Description
Access to online user area where you can share your components,movieclips,graphics,sounds etc. for Envision and download new media for use with Envision .
Usage
Press the Download icon(located top right).
Note
Requires internet access.

Restore Default Settings

Description
Restores all settings to the initial settings .
Usage
Press the Restore settings icon(located bottom left) and then press then press on the Yes button to confirm the restoration of the default settings.

Save Current Settings

Description
Saves any changes to the settings that you may have made so that when you open the Envision panel these settings will be loaded.
Usage
Press the Save settings icon(located bottom center) and then press then press on the Yes button to confirm the saving of the current settings.
Note
When you change a setting the “Save current settings” Icon will also appear in the top left of the panel pressing this icon has the same effect.

Capture Tab    

Capture Desktop

Description
Capture Region is set to the entire Desktop Area.
Usage
To set this option press the “Capture Desktop” option button or the
“Capture Desktop Screen” Icon.

Capture Window

Description
Enables Capture Region to be snapped to a specific window or area of the desktop.
Usage
To set this option first press the “Capture Window” option button or the “Capture Window Screen” Icon.
Then press and hold the “Capture Window Screen” icon to activate the tool. Move the mouse to the area you wish to capture the Red or Green Rectangle specifies the current capture region depending on the mouse position. Once you are happy with the capture Region release the mouse to set that Capture region and return to the main Envision panel.
Note
If the rectangle turns green this specifies a window else a red rectangle specifies an area within a window.

Capture Area

Description
Manually set the Capture Region to an area of the desktop.
Usage
To Set this option first press the “Capture Area” option button or the “Capture Area Screen” Icon. Then press the “Capture Area Screen” icon to activate the tool. The Red Rectangle specifies the current capture region you may resize the capture region by moving the mouse over any side of the rectangle then holding down the left mouse and dragging the window to a new size. Or by entering a new size and width in the Capture Area Dimensions window and pressing the apply button. The Capture region may also be moved by moving the mouse over any side of the rectangle then holding down the left mouse button together with the shift key and dragging the window to a new position. Or by entering a new left and top position in the Capture Area Dimensions window and pressing the apply button. Once you are happy with the Capture Region press the “Finish” button in the Capture Area Dimensions window to set that Capture region and return to the main Envision panel.

Action Area

Description
Enables Recording of a specific area around the mouse within the capture region creating a pan effect. Before this option is available the capture region must be set.
Usage
To Set this option first press the “Use Action Area” check box. Then press the “Action Area Screen” icon to activate the tool. . The Red Rectangle specifies the set Capture region and the Green Rectangle specifies the current action area within that region. you may resize the action area region by moving the mouse over any side of the green rectangle then holding down the left mouse and dragging the window to a new size. Or by entering a new height and width in the Capture Action Area Dimensions window and pressing the apply button . Once you are happy with the Action Area Region press the “Finish” button in the Action Area Dimensions window to set that Action Area region and return to the main Envision panel.

Cursor Mode

Use Arrow Cursor for Capture

Description
While recording the default Arrow cursor will be used as the captured cursor regardless of the cursor that appears on the screen.
Usage
To Set this option press the “Use Arrow Cursor for Capture” option button.

Capture All Cursors

Description
While recording all cursors will be captured
Usage
To Set this option press the “Capture All Cursors” option button.

Do not Capture Cursor

Description
No cursor will be captured.
Usage
To Set this option press the “Do not Capture Cursor” option button.

Compression

Progressive Compression

Description
Compresses each frame captured to only include only the area that has changed from the previous frame. If no change has occurred then the image is not imported. Images are layered on top of each other to make up the final captured frame. When an image is no longer needed in the representation of the final image it is removed from the frame.
When a Key frame contains 10 images a new layer is created to improve import and editing performance. Using this option results in a smaller file size.
Usage
To Set this option tick the “Progressive Compression” check box.
Note
This option is not available if you are using Action Area Recording.

Action Area Compression

Description
Compresses each frame captured to only include the area required to create the pan effect from one frame to the next. Using this option results in a smaller file size
Usage
To Set this option tick the “Action Area Compression” check box.
Note
This option is only available if you are using Action Area Recording.

Capture Area Dimensions

Description
Displays the dimensions of the current screen capture region in pixels(Actual) and the size in pixels of the flash document(Document) after the capture has been imported.
Note
If Action Area Recording is used the resulting flash document dimensions will be that of the Document Action Area Dimensions not the Document Capture Area Dimensions.
To change the document size See Document Options > sizing.

Action Area Dimensions

Description
Displays the dimensions of the current screen capture region in pixels(Actual) and the size in pixels of the flash document(Document) after the capture has been imported.
Note
If Action Area Recording is used the resulting flash document dimensions will be that of the Document Action Area Dimensions not the Document Capture Area Dimensions.
To change the document size See Document Options > sizing.

Capture Flash

Description
Enables capture of the Flash Application. By default the Flash Application is minimized during recording and setting capture region by selecting this option the Flash Application remains at its current size and position when recording and setting the capture region.

Main Menu

Description
Return to the main menu.
Usage
Press the “Main Menu” button.

Capture

Description
Start recording using the current settings.
Usage
Press the “Capture” button.
Note
The Capture button will only become available when you have set a capture region.

Capture Options Tab    

Key Settings

Capture Frame on all Keystrokes

Description
Depending on what you have chosen to capture a frame on, this will capture a frame on every key press except the following hotkey's:
Usage
To Set this option press the “Capture Frame on all Keystrokes” option button.

Capture Frame on Hotkey only

Description
Depending on what you have chosen to capture a frame on, this will only capture a frame when you press your capture frame hotkey.
Usage
To Set this option press the “Capture Frame on Hotkey only” option button.

Capture Frame on Key Press

Description
Capture a frame when a key is pressed.
Usage
To set this option tick the “Capture Frame on Key Press“ check box.

Capture Frame While Key Down

Description
Capture frames while a key is held down.
Usage
To set this option tick the “Capture Frame While Key Down“ check box.
Note
This option can only be selected if the “Capture Frame on Key Press” setting is selected.

Capture Frame on Key Release

Description
Capture a frame when a key is released.
Usage
To set this option tick the “Capture Frame on Key Release“ check box.

Capture Delay on Key Event

Description
The Delay time in Milliseconds after a key Event has occurred and before the actual frame is captured .
Usage
Enter a time in the Capture Delay on Key Event text box or use the slider to select the Capture Delay on Key Event time. Valid range is from 0 to 1000 ms.

Time before Key Press is considered Down

Description
The time in milliseconds before a key that is held down will start to capture frames if the “Capture Frame While Key Down“ option is selected.
Usage
Enter a time in the Time before Key Press is considered Down text box or use the slider to select the Time before Key Press is considered Down time. Valid range is from 0 to 3000 ms.

Other Settings

Capture Frame on Focus Change

Description
Captures a fame every time the active window changes.(e.g. a dialog box opens)
Usage
To set this option tick the “Capture Frame on Focus Change“ check box.

Capture Delay on Focus Change Event

Description
The Delay time in Milliseconds after a Focus Change Event has occurred and before the actual frame is captured .
Usage
Enter a time in the Capture Delay on Focus Change Event text box or use the slider to select the Capture Delay on Focus Change Event time. Valid range is from 0 to 1000 ms.

Mouse Settings

Capture Frame on Left Mouse Press

Description
Capture a frame when the Left Mouse button is pressed.
Usage
To set this option tick the “Capture Frame on Left Mouse Press “ check box.

Capture Frame While Left Mouse Down

Description
Capture frames while the Left Mouse button is held down.
Usage
To set this option tick the “Capture Frame While Left Mouse Down“ check box.
Note
This option can only be selected if the “Capture Frame on Left Mouse Press” setting is selected.

Capture Frame on Left Mouse Release

Description
Capture a frame when the Left Mouse button is released.
Usage
To set this option tick the “Capture Frame on Left Mouse Release“ check box.

Capture Frame on Right Mouse Press

Description
Capture a frame when the Right Mouse button is pressed.
Usage
To set this option tick the “Capture Frame on Right Mouse Press “ check box.

Capture Frame While Right Mouse Down

Description
Capture frames while the Right Mouse button is held down.
Usage
To set this option tick the “Capture Frame While Right Mouse Down“ check box.
Note
This option can only be selected if the “Capture Frame on Right Mouse Press” setting is selected.

Capture Frame on Right Mouse Release

Description
Capture a frame when the Right Mouse button is released.
Usage
To set this option tick the “Capture Frame on Right Mouse Release“ check box.

Capture Delay on Mouse Event

Description
The Delay time in Milliseconds after a Mouse Event has occurred and before the actual frame is captured .

Time before Mouse Press is considered Down

Description
The time in milliseconds before a Mouse button that is held down will start to capture frames if the “Capture Frame While Right Mouse Down “ or the “Capture Frame While Left Mouse Down” setting is selected.
Usage
Enter a time in the Time before Mouse Press is considered Down text box or use the slider to select the Time before Mouse Press is considered Down time. Valid range is from 0 to 3000 ms.

Capture Frame on Mouse Move /Hover

Description
Captures a fame every time the mouse enters a new area of the screen and remains there for the Mouse Move / Hover Event Time setting time. Separate areas are defined by Envision and are usually buttons,text boxes,windows,menu bars etc.
Usage
To set this option tick the “Capture Frame on Mouse Move /Hover “ check box.

Mouse Move / Hover Event Time

Description
The amount of time in milliseconds the mouse has to remain over a new area before capturing a frame if the “Capture Frame on Mouse Move /Hover” setting is selected.
Usage
Enter a time in the Mouse Move / Hover Event Time text box or use the slider to select the Mouse Move / Hover Event Time. Valid range is from 0 to 9000 ms.

Configure Hotkey's

Description
Access the configure Hotkey's screen to customize your recording hotkey's.
Usage
Press the “Configure Hotkeys” button.

Capture Hotkey's

Capture Frame

Description
The key that when pressed during recording will capture a frame.
Usage
To set this key first select the “Capture Frame” text box then press the desired key you wish to use.

End Capture

Description
The key that when pressed during recording will end the recording session.
Usage
To set this key first select the “End Capture” text box then press the desired key you wish to use.
Note
This can also be accessed from the Envision system tray icon menu

Pause Capture

Description
The key that when pressed during recording will pause or resume the recording session depending on its current paused state.
Usage
To set this key first select the “Pause Capture” text box then press the desired key you wish to use.
Note
This can also be accessed from the Envision system tray icon menu

Lock/Unlock Capture Window

Description
The key that when pressed during recording will lock or unlock the main recording window depending on its current locked state. An unlocked window will automatically move to get out of the way of the cursor.
Usage
To set this key first select the “Lock/Unlock Capture Window” text box then press the desired key you wish to use.
Note
This can also be accessed from the Envision system tray icon menu

Toggle Guides

Description
The key that when pressed during recording will show or hide the recording region guides depending on the current Toggle Guides state.
Usage
To set this key first select the “Toggle Guides” text box then press the desired key you wish to use.
Note
This can also be accessed from the Envision system tray icon menu.

Document Options Tab    

Sizing

Actual Size

Description
The captured frames will not be scaled and will be created at the actual screen size.
Usage
To Set this option press the “Actual Size” option button.

User Defined Size

Description
The captured frames will be scaled to the desired width and height.
Usage
To Set this option press the “User Defined Size” option button. Then enter a width and a height that will specify the width and height of the captured frames in the “Width” and “Height” text boxes. Valid range is from 1 to 9999.
Note
You may also wish to enforce aspect ratio by ticking the “Enforce Aspect Ratio” check box meaning that the captured frames will be scaled to the largest width and height that is less or equal to your selected width and height at the same time keeping the frame to scale.

Percentage

Description
The captured frames will be scaled according to the desired percentage.
Usage
To Set this option press the “Percentage” option button. Then enter a percentage to scale the frame by in the “Percentage” text box. Valid range is from 1 to 999 %.


Quality

Allow Smoothing

Description
Smoothes the edges of the bitmap with anti-aliasing.
Usage
To Set this option tick the “Allow Smoothing” check box.

Compression

Description
Photo (JPEG) compresses the image in JPEG format.
Lossless (PNG/GIF) compresses the image with lossless compression, in which no data is discarded from the image.
Usage
Select your desired Compression from the “Compression” drop down box.
Note
Use Photo compression for images with complex color or tonal variations, such as photographs or images with gradient fills. Use Lossless compression for images with simple shapes and relatively few colors
.

Use Document Default Quality

Description
Uses the documents default quality setting for the imported frames.
Usage
To Set this option tick the “Use Document Default Quality” check box.
Note
This option is only available if the chosen compression is “Lossless (PNG/GIF)”.

Quality

Description
The Quality to be used for the imported frames. A higher setting preserves greater image integrity but yields a larger file size.
Usage
Enter a quality in the Quality text box or use the slider to select the Quality. Valid range is from 1 to 100.
Note
This option is only available if the chosen compression is “Lossless (PNG/GIF)”. And the “Use Document Default Quality” setting is not set.

Other Settings

Tween Mouse Movements

Description
Tweens the mouse cursor movements between one frame and the next
Usage
To set this option tick the “Tween Mouse Movement“ check box.

Embed in Movie Clip

Description
Creates a Movie Clip containing your captured frames rather than creating the frames in _root.
Usage
To set this option tick the “Embed in Movie Clip“ check box.

Animations

Add Left Mouse Animation on

Press

Description
The move clip “LeftMouseClick”(Located in the Envision Library) will be added to the frame when it was captured due to a “Left Mouse Press” event.
Usage
To set this option select the “Press“ option box.
Note
The “LeftMouseClick” movie clip is added so that its registration point is equal to the mouse coordinates of the frame. You may change the movie clip added by editing the Envision Library however the naming conventions of both the movie clips and “Library_imports” folder must remain the same. The structure of the “Library_imports” folder must also remain intact

Release

Description
The move clip “LeftMouseClick”(Located in the Envision Library) will be added to the frame when it was captured due to a “Left Mouse Release” event.
Usage
To set this option select the “Release“ option box.
Note
The “LeftMouseClick” movie clip is added so that its registration point is equal to the mouse coordinates of the frame. You may change the movie clip added by editing the Envision Library however the naming conventions of both the movie clips and “Library_imports” folder must remain the same. The structure of the “Library_imports” folder must also remain intact

None

Description
No animations will be added to the frame when it was captured due to a “Left Mouse Press” or “Left Mouse Release” event.
Usage
To set this option select the “None“ option box.

Down

Description
The move clip “LeftMouseDown”(Located in the Envision Library) will be added to the frame when it was captured due to a “While Left Mouse Down” event.
Usage
To set this option tick the “Down“ check box.
Note
The “RightMouseDown” movie clip is added so that its registration point is equal to the mouse coordinates of the frame. You may change the movie clip added by editing the Envision Library however the naming conventions of both the movie clips and “Library_imports” folder must remain the same. The structure of the “Library_imports” folder must also remain intact

Add Right Mouse Animation on

Press

Description
The move clip “RightMouseClick”(Located in the Envision Library) will be added to the frame when it was captured due to a “Right Mouse Press” event.

Description

To set this option select the “None“ option box.

Down

Description

Add Key Animation on

Press

Description
The move clip “KeyPress”(Located in the Envision Library) will be added to the frame when it was captured due to a “Key Press” event.
Usage
To set this option select the “Press“ option box.
Note
If the frame was captured using the “Capture Frame” hotkey key animations will not be added to the frame. The “KeyPress” movie clip is added so that its registration 0,0 .You may change the movie clip added by editing the Envision Library however the naming conventions of both the movie clips and “Library_imports” folder must remain the same. The structure of the “Library_imports” folder must also remain intact

Release

Description
The move clip “KeyPress”(Located in the Envision Library) will be added to the frame when it was captured due to a “Key Release” event.
Usage
To set this option select the “Release“ option box.
Note
If the frame was captured using the “Capture Frame” hotkey key animations will not be added to the frame. The “KeyPress” movie clip is added so that its registration 0,0 .You may change the movie clip added by editing the Envision Library however the naming conventions of both the movie clips and “Library_imports” folder must remain the same. The structure of the “Library_imports” folder must also remain intact

None

Description
No animations will be added to the frame when it was captured due a “Key Press” or “Key Release” event.
Usage
To set this option select the “None“ option box.

Down

Description
The move clip “KeyDown”(Located in the Envision Library) will be added to the frame when it was captured due to a “While Key Down” event.
Usage
To set this option tick the “Down“ check box.
Note
If the frame was captured using the “Capture Frame” hotkey key animations will not be added to the frame. The “KeyDown” movie clip is added so that its registration 0,0 .You may change the movie clip added by editing the Envision Library however the naming conventions of both the movie clips and “Library_imports” folder must remain the same. The structure of the “Library_imports” folder must also remain intact

Timing

FPS

Description
Sets the frames per second of your capture project. This will set your new Flash document FPS.It will also influence the recording rate as frames will only be captured that can be created within the flash document.
Usage
Enter a number in the FPS text box or use the slider to select the FPS. Valid range is from 1 to 120.

Limit Frame Capture Duration

Description
Maximum time in milliseconds allowed between one captured frame and the next. While recording if the time between two capture events exceeds this time the “Total Capture Time”(Located in the info tab of the main recording window) will turn red and the new frame will be given the timestamp of the previous capture frame plus the Limit Frame Capture Duration time including the FPS setting in milliseconds.
Usage
Enter a time in the Capture Delay on Limit Frame Capture Duration text box or use the slider to select the Limit Frame Capture Duration time. Valid range is from 0 to 60000 ms
